Window Styles

Windows - Window Styles When it comes to window styles for your home, there are any numbers of choices to selection from. It could be a simple design and style, or a fancy style that matches well with the rest of your home. However, before you choose, you must consider climatic conditions in your area. Here are a few types of windows that you can choose from:

Windows Contractors For Window Styles In Miami, Fl Sliding windows are made up of horizontally sliding sashes. This type is not too expensive and extremely easy when it comes to cleaning them. That is because all you have to do is remove these sashes, clean them up and then put them in place. However ventilation might be a problem, because only one sash slides over the other at a time.

Casement windows work on hinges, and can be either opened outwards, or inwards. This lets you enjoy a lot of fresh air and a high amount of ventilation also. Cleaning these types is also worry free, as both the sides of the casement window are very much within reach.

An awning window is hinged at the upper part while a casement window is hinged at the side. There are also awning windows that are hinged at the bottom on lower walls, and to be more precise, those are called hopper windows.

Jalousie windows are made up of glass slats that are arranged to form a window. There is always an element of risk that is associated with a Jalousie window and these are not considered to be safe. This window must be cranked open, and then the slats tilt to provide ventilation.

The name ‘Fixed pane windows’ says all you need to know about this type of window. These are extremely well suited for houses that need an air conditioner or a heater all through the year. There is absolutely no ventilation from this type of window.

A double hung window has one sash hung from the top, and the other from the bottom. One sash has to be slid on the other to open, and that is why only one of the two halves of a double hung window can be opened. This window is quite often seen in most American homes, and the only problem is that of ventilation because only one half of the double hung window can be opened. To deal with that, open the upper portion of one double hung window and the lower sash of the other double hung window that is opposite to the first one. So you have fresh air coming in, and stale air going out simultaneously.

A single hung window operates on the similar system as the double hung windows. However, in this kind of window, just a single sash can be opened up.

Bay windows are a window pattern where there is one window in the centre, and accompanied by two or more other windows on the sides. These types of windows jut out of the wall, and are either double hung or casement type of windows.

A bow window comprises of over three sections that stick out from the wall to form a bow like bend.

Tilt turn windows tilt from the top. The central lock of a tilt turn window is what makes it an extremely safe option, and a little more tilting can turn it into an emergency exit too. Apart from that, it is convenient to clean and looks extremely neat.

Egress windows are big windows that serve as a perfect emergency exit. The size of these windows is very much in accordance with what is defined by local building coded for an emergency exit.

A storm window is the best protective shield against stormy conditions, and it also protects the house from too much of heat or cold. A simple mechanism that sets this type of window apart from the rest, is the air pocket that exists between itself and the regular window.

Hello, I am looking for a contractor to install one, possibly two egress windows during an upcoming basement remodel. The ceiling height in the basement is 9 feet. The entire foundation is underground (no walk-out.) We are looking for the contractor to perform the entire installation: -excavation of dirt around the window area -cutting the foundation wall (poured concrete) -framing and installation of the window (we have a 48"x48" slider for one of the two windows) -installation of the window well Please price for both installing one window (already purchased) and for two windows. We have not arrived on a final design yet and do not know how many egress windows we will install. This job will be permitted. Thanks,
